About our Speaker

Lori Thornton, a native of Amory, Mississippi, works as professional genealogist and academic librarian. She resides in Morristown, Tennessee and specializes in Southern States research and in religious records. Lori speaks to audiences at the local level, at the regional level in venues such as Cumberland Gap Genealogy Jamboree, and at the national level at venues such as National Genealogical Society Family History Conference.
Lori holds master’s degrees from Cincinnati Bible Seminary and University of Kentucky and studied at Institute for Genealogical Research and Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and its North Carolina Chapter, the National Genealogical Society, and several state and local societies.
She authored Research in Mississippi in National Genealogical Society’s Research in the States series in 2017. She wrote articles appearing in Wake Treasures, Itawamba Settlers, and The Septs.
