Bible Records Policy

The Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly is actively interested in preserving Bible records, and will publish yours. The Bible record must have a Georgia connection. We reserve the right to refuse to publish inappropriate materials, or those not consistent with our policy. Below are guidelines for submitting records.

The title page from the Bible should be photocopied. If no date appears on the title page, also copy the page on which the date appears. If the title page is torn out of the Bible, and the Bible contains a New Testament page, copy it. If not, copy the first page that remains in the Bible.

Each page of the Bible containing family information should also be photocopied. All copies should be stapled together with the title page.

Transcribe all the family information from the Bible and submit on a 3.5” computer diskette accompanied by a print copy. By transcribe, we mean copy each name, date, and other bit of information exactly as it appears in the Bible. Even if you know that information is inaccurate or words are misspelled, copy them exactly as they appear. If you wish to clarify any information shown, do so on a separate sheet of paper.

The following statement should be included, signed and dated in the presence of a notary public:

I swear that the attached copies from the ____________________________ Family Bible are accurate copies.
The Bible is in the possession of (Name of present owner and owner's complete address).

If the person submitting the Bible record is not the owner, the one submitting it should give full name and address. If the following information is known, please include it: The person who made the entries in the Bible giving their Georgia location; the succeeding owners of the Bible.

Send the affidavit described above, the photocopy of the title page and Bible records, and transcription to Editor, Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly, Post Office Box 550247, Atlanta, GA 30355-2747.
